This Starmount project is looking great! We’ve leveled out two tiers to this sloped backyard with a rock retaining wall and live edge stone steps in the center. This dwarf lace leaf crimson queen Japanese maple was the cherry on top! The homeowner is excited to continue planting and spicing up his beautiful backyard.

In fact…here’s what he had to say about it!

“We could not be more delighted in the job Josh and Queen City Hardscapes did for our formerly troublesome uninviting patio/back yard. Josh and Kayla were both very professional but also were a pleasure to work with . Our backyard is sloped and Josh not only solved our drainage problem but helped give us a whole new spacious ( outdoor) patio room as well. .

Further , we feel like we made new friends in the process ( how many contractors can you say that about ?) The whole time he was working on the yard I felt like I had a real friend helping , a friend with a stake in seeing my vision come true . But if you use him make sure you ask Josh for his expert opinion for he is a true landscape artist . He can certainly add to any vision you already had.

We had a blast putting together this backyard staircase. With a combination of flagstone landings and natural fieldstone steppers, we transformed this space into a beautiful, functional area that blends in with the surrounding environment.

Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but it's also practical - the boulder staircase provides a safe and stable way to navigate the slope of this yard, making it accessible to everyone. And, with its natural materials, it's also environmentally friendly.
